More Than Cambrian: Bringing RCT Together Through Football

Our recent home fixture against Llandudno was about much more than the first-team action. It was an opportunity to bring local clubs together and show what having Cymru Premier football in Rhondda Cynon Taf can offer the next generation.

Before kick-off, we welcomed Treherbert, Penygraig, Ynyshir and Ely Valley Under-10s for a round-robin tournament on our main pitch. Young players from four local clubs had the chance to enjoy their football before watching Cambrian United take on Llandudno.

The photographs from the day capture what made the occasion special: young players taking part, families supporting from the sidelines and our community coming together through football.

An opportunity for the next generation

Having top-flight Welsh football in RCT creates an opportunity that reaches beyond Cambrian United.

It gives children across Rhondda, Cynon and Taff the chance to watch Cymru Premier football close to home, connect with the game and see a pathway they could one day follow themselves.

For a young player stepping onto the pitch before a first-team fixture, that experience can help make the ambition feel real. The players they watch today could inspire the footballers they become tomorrow.

We want local children to feel part of that opportunity, whichever grassroots club they play for.

Partnership making a difference

The day was supported by The M&P Group, whose additional sponsorship helped cover the cost of the tournament and provide free entry for children across RCT.

That support made a practical difference, helping us welcome young players and families into the ground and make the matchday accessible to more people.

It is an example of how a partnership can benefit the wider community: supporting participation, creating experiences and helping young people enjoy football on their doorstep.

We are grateful to The M&P Group for helping us make that possible.

Building relationships across local football

A huge thank you goes to the players, coaches and families from Treherbert, Penygraig, Ynyshir and Ely Valley, alongside the volunteers who helped deliver the day.

Grassroots clubs play an essential role in developing young players and bringing communities together. We want to keep strengthening those relationships and create further opportunities for local teams to be involved at Cambrian.

Our ambition is for matchdays to become occasions that people across RCT can enjoy and feel part of — a place to support the first team, celebrate local football and make memories together.

Join us again this Friday

We return to home action on Friday 9 October, welcoming Ammanford to The M&P Group 3G for a 7:45pm kick-off.

DJ Frenchy will perform a pre-match set, while Ton & Gelli Under-10s will join us as matchday mascots, giving another group of young players the opportunity to be part of the evening.

Come along with your family and friends, get behind the lads and help us continue building something our whole area can share.

We are Rhondda. We are Cynon. We are Taff. Together, we are Cambrian United.
