FAW Welsh Cup – Second Round
Friday 16 October 2026 | 7:45pm
The M&P Group 3G, Clydach Vale
Cambrian United begin our FAW Welsh Cup campaign this Friday evening as we welcome Trethomas Bluebirds to The M&P Group 3G for another night of football under the lights.
With a place in the third round at stake, Liam Williams’ side will be looking to make home advantage count and give the Cam Army a cup performance to get behind.
Following last Friday’s narrow 1–0 league defeat to Ammanford, the tie offers Cambrian an opportunity to respond, build confidence and turn our attention towards progressing in Wales’ national cup competition.
A familiar opponent
Trethomas will be familiar opposition to Cambrian supporters following our meetings in the Cymru South before United’s promotion to the Novira Cymru Premier.
The Bluebirds arrive with an opportunity to test themselves against top-flight opposition, and Cambrian will need to approach the contest with focus and respect for the challenge ahead.
For the visitors, an away cup tie presents the chance to make their own mark on the competition. For United, the task is to establish our rhythm early, make good use of possession and take our opportunities when they arrive.
Cup football leaves little room for an off-night, and the quality of our performance across both penalty areas could prove decisive.
An opportunity to respond
Friday’s fixture gives Liam Williams and his players a fresh challenge following the disappointment against Ammanford.
A strong start, disciplined defending and a willingness to work for one another will be central to Cambrian’s hopes of progressing. With league football providing its own demands, a cup run would offer another opportunity to create memorable evenings for everyone connected with the club.
The players will be looking to give supporters something to celebrate, but earning a place in the next round will require a committed performance from the first whistle.
Friday night under the lights
Our home support has an important part to play. Friday evenings at The M&P Group 3G bring our community together, and we are calling on the Cam Army to help create another atmosphere that lifts the team.
Whether you are a regular supporter or joining us for your first Cambrian match, come along, bring your friends and family, and get behind the boys as we begin our Welsh Cup journey.
