Match Preview: Connah’s Quay Nomads v Cambrian United

Cambrian United return to North Wales on Friday evening as Liam Williams’ side face Connah’s Quay Nomads in the Novira Cymru Premier.

The match takes place at the Essity Stadium in Flint on Friday 28 August, with kick-off at 7:45pm.

Cambrian travel north in excellent spirits following a memorable 3-0 victory away to Haverfordwest County.

After a goalless first half at the Bridge Meadow Stadium, second-half goals from Jay Woodford, Danny Hillman and Jac Joseph secured an impressive three points for the Cam Army.

The result followed our historic first Cymru Premier victory against Flint Town United, meaning Cambrian have collected seven points from their opening four league fixtures.

It has been an encouraging start to the club’s first season in the Welsh top flight, but another difficult test awaits on Friday.

Connah’s Quay Nomads are one of the most experienced and successful clubs in Welsh domestic football.

The Nomads have won the Cymru Premier twice and lifted the Welsh Cup on two occasions. They are managed by former club captain John Disney and entered the season following another European campaign.

They showed their attacking quality earlier this month with an emphatic 6-0 league victory over Trefelin BGC.

This will be the first competitive meeting between Connah’s Quay Nomads and Cambrian United.
