Wales youth international returns to Rhondda Cynon Taf to join the county borough’s Cymru Premier club.
Cambrian United is delighted to announce the signing of Wales youth international Josh Beecher following his departure from Cardiff City this summer.
The Tonteg-born player returns to Rhondda Cynon Taf to represent the county borough’s Cymru Premier club, adding further quality and potential to Liam Williams’ squad for the 2026/27 season.
Beecher progressed through Cardiff City’s highly regarded academy system, regularly playing above his age group and representing the Bluebirds’ Under-21 side while still a scholar.
His development was rewarded with a competitive first-team debut at the age of 17 when he came off the bench against Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup.
His performances at academy level also earned him international recognition with Wales. Beecher was selected for the Wales Under-19 squad for its UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying campaign in Montenegro and started in Cymru’s 1–1 draw against England.
Football has always played an important part in Josh’s family. His great-grandfather, William George ‘Billy’ Baker, represented Cardiff City during the 1930s and 1940s, making Josh’s progression through the club and eventual first-team debut even more meaningful.
During the 2024/25 season, Beecher continued his development on loan at Barry Town United, gaining valuable experience in senior Welsh football.
There is already a connection between Josh and Cambrian United. He played against the Cam Army in the Nathaniel MG Cup during the 2025/26 season—but this time, he will be wearing the Cambrian shirt.
Josh’s arrival is another important part of our commitment to representing the whole of Rhondda Cynon Taf in the Cymru Premier.
Born in Tonteg, Josh represents the Taff area of RCT and now joins a club carrying the identity and ambition of the Rhondda, Cynon and Taff communities onto the national stage.
His professional academy background, senior football experience and international recognition with Wales make him an exciting addition to the squad as Cambrian United begins its first season in the Cymru Premier.
